What is Tethering?
It’s the process that allows your laptop to use your iPhone’s 3G internet connection to surf the internet.
This feature is still not available to AT&T’s iPhone customers even though Apple had introduced these features in iPhone OS 3.0 almost three months ago.
There’s a way to enable Tethering on your iPhone running on OS 3.0.1 without jailbreaking your iPhone. This is convenient in case you need to get online when you’re in places without a free wifi access. Wifi enabled Starbucks sells $5 gift cards if you need to use their wifi.
How to enable Tethering on your iPhone with OS 3.0
Step 1. Using your iPhone’s Safari browser go to the following link http://help.benm.at/help.php
Step 2. Scroll down to Mobileconfigs and tap on Download >
Step 3. Select your country
Step 4. Select your provider
Step 5. Tap install and choose install now
Step 6. Tap Done and exit Safari.
Step 7. Then go to Settings > General > Network > Internet Tethering (you will see a message that says, contact your provider regarding tethering. Just tap cancel), you may have to do this 3 – 4 times until you see the toggle button to enable tethering.
Step 8. Exit everything. You’re done.
Plug your white usb cable to your laptop and iPhone and wait for windows Vista to auto detect the network.
