Search Engine Optimization “aka” SEO is a process of strategically coding the website’s keyword contents and structure in order to appear on the first three pages of the major search engines like Yahoo when someone type’s a keyword in the search box. Example, if a website’s homepage was optimized properly for the keywords experienced web designer, the website’s address should appear on the first 3 pages of the search engine results page (SERPS).

There are many steps involved in organic search engine optimization (SEO). Strategically tweaking the Page Title, the Meta Description, The Keyword Meta Tags, creating Robots file, Sitemap, effective use of heading tags such as H1, H2, H3, find & fix broken links and the list goes on.

There are plenty of websites out there that aren’t being found on Google, Yahoo or MSN because of the way they were designed. These websites are not search engine friendly. So what makes a website not search engine friendly?

Flash Websites, cool intro splash page with no text or text links, navigation that uses images, dead links, hidden text, linking to banned websites like porn sites and link farms, gambling sites, etc.

When will your website appear in the first page of search engines after SEO has been done? Unfortunately this can’t be guaranteed by anyone because no one knows exactly when and how often the Googlebots or spiders will crawl your website. There are some people who says that it could take up to 4 months for an existing website and twice as long for new websites.
